A successful "MiniHansetag" 2.0 in York

Calender Icon 15. April 2025

For the second time in a row, the British youthHansa hosted the „MiniHansetag“ from 3 April to 6 April. This year, the event took place in York: a city in the north-east which attracts over 2 million visitors every year due to its authentic medieval and Hanseatic character despite its manageable size. A total of 15 young people from England, the Netherlands, France and Germany came together to explore this unique city and its surroundings.

First on the programme was an exploration of York in the best weather: Shambles Street and the Jorvik Museum in particular were a source of great amazement for the participants. They also visited the British Hanseatic town of Beverley, where a guided tour of the Art Gallery and a visit to the flea market at Beverley Minster, which only takes place once a year, were also on the programme. Of course, the main focus of the youthHansa was on networking young people. The exchange with the youth organisation „Yorkie Europe“ was a particular highlight: The youth delegation exchanged ideas with young people from York, and together they agreed on the pillars for a functioning democracy and successful cooperation: The removal of blinkers and above all: peace.
The programme was varied, Hanseatic and entertaining for everyone involved. In short: a complete success!

Special thanks go to the coordinator of the British Hanseatic Cities, Hamish Stewart, who made this event possible. A big thank you also goes to Phil Eke, Hamish's designated successor, who, despite travelling 4 hours to get here, didn't miss the opportunity to spend the whole weekend with us! From his feedback, we can see that the course has been set for further events in this format. We are looking forward to it!
