The cultural heritage of the Hanseatic era is still visible today in many member cities of THE HANSA. For this reason, cooperation in the field of European cultural tourism plays a central role in THE HANSA's activities.

Since 1991 THE HANSA has been certified as a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe and integrated into the network of cultural routes. Here, too, cultural tourism is an essential part of the cooperation.

Once a year, as part of the International Hanseatic Day, a tourism workshop is held for the member cities, in which current topics are discussed and developed.
