The route runs from Beverley via Hull, Lincoln, Boston, Kings Lynn, Walsingham, Great Yarmouth and Ipswich to the ferry port of Harwich. It is the result of cooperation between the English Hanseatic cities. The towns invite travelers on a captivating journey through time in the footsteps of merchants, traders and diplomats who once headed for the bustling ports and markets of the Hanseatic towns along the English coast. The route was designed primarily as a bicycle route, but it can also be traveled by train, motorcycle or car. The route was officially inaugurated on Sunday by a delegation of cyclists in the presence of Hanseatic historian Dr Paul Richards and the English HANSA-commissioner Hamish Stewart.
