From November 24 to December 22, 2025, the historic old town of Hattingen once again invites visitors to the popular Nostalgic Christmas Market. Over the course of four weeks, the town center will transform into a magical winter wonderland with a nostalgic atmosphere.

Highlights and Attractions
Starting on December 1, Frau Holle will open a door of the Advent calendar at the Old Town Hall on Untermarkt every day at 5 PM (on December 24 at 11 AM). Visitors can look forward to a fairytale spectacle with stories and songs, accompanied by "golden coins" and "snow."
At the Kirchplatz, the Schultenhof will treat guests to traditional delights such as apple punch, potato pancakes, and wild bratwurst. Two artisan huts on the historic Kirchplatz will present a rotating selection of works by local artists. On weekends, choirs will perform on stage to enhance the festive atmosphere, and a magnificent Christmas tree will shine in all its holiday splendor. At the volunteer hut of the Sparkasse Hattingen, local clubs and organizations will introduce their work to visitors.
In Krämersdorf, the French market Bleu Blanc Rouge will bring a touch of France to the event. Vendors from France will offer fine specialties such as soap, cheese, salami, and Flammkuchen (a type of flatbread pizza). The traditional Feuerzangenbowle (a spiced punch) will also invite guests to linger.
Art and Crafts at the St. Georg Quarter and Steinhagenplatz
The arts and crafts markets, organized by the agency pro motion Bochum, will showcase exquisite works by regional andinternationally renowned artists in the St. Georg Quarter and at Steinhagenplatz. With its atmospheric lights, traditional stalls, and diverse cultural program, the Nostalgic Christmas Market in Hattingen is an unmissable experience during the holiday season.
