The Chocolate Festival is a household name in Zutphen. In 2023, the Festival will be organised for the 19th time on 24 September. For the Chocolate Festival, the best chocolatiers from all over the country come to Zutphen. You will see chocolate in many forms and of course you can taste it. There is plenty to experience for young and old.
This year, Hanze plays a big part in the Chocolate Festival. The Festival will be decorated in Hanseatic style. Ingredients from the Hanseatic era will be processed into chocolate and there will be a Hanseatic market with colourful spices, a stable with beautiful skins and carpets, silks will be sold and merchants will walk through the city with their wares. At the market, a Hanse Kogge (boat) will be made of chocolate. In the run-up to the event, a Hanze chocolate bar will be available and a big shopkeepers' action will be organised together with Zutphen's entrepreneurs.
