Elblag

Do you like discovering new places, are you looking for an interesting place to spend time in? Welcome to Elblag, here you will meet friendly people, eat well and tasty, provide yourself with safe relaxation or active rest, whatever you prefer. Visit us for a while and you will want to come back.

Particularly popular with tourists is the unique Old Town - one of the best archaeologically researched Old Towns in Europe.

During World War II, the Old Town was completely destroyed. Its reconstruction was preceded by thorough archaeological work. This is how we know that for centuries the city was one of the most important ports on the Baltic Sea. And hence the rich and unique collections of the modern Museum of Archaeology and History in Elblag. There are exhibits from the late 16th and early 17th centuries, but also traces of the Vikings and even earlier, the Goths who contributed to the fall of the Roman Empire.

The central part of the Old Town is St. Nicholas Cathedral, with the highest church tower on the right side of the Vistula River (97 m). The journey along the Elblag Canal also begins in the heart of the Old Town. It is the only functioning waterway in the world with a system of slipways and sluices, thanks to which ships overcome nearly 100-meter difference in terrain level.

Elblag is an open art gallery. Nearly 100 spatial forms and sculptures, among others by Magdalena Abakanowicz, have been placed in various places in the city. A walk along the trail of spatial forms can be an "artistic feast". It is worth starting with the EL Gallery Art Center, which is located in the former Gothic monastery building.

A walk around the city will be facilitated by the free application "Elblag trails" - available for download in the Play Store and App Store.
