Telgte

Günter Grass, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, immortalised the town literarily in his story The Meeting in Telgte. He speaks of a cosy little town, and indeed, even today it can be described in this way. The hospitable atmosphere to be found in the old town invites visitors to linger.

Telgte was first mentioned as a Hanseatic town in 1469.
